Russia is openly saying that the U.S. dollar’s privileged status in the global financial system, known as the “petrodollar”, may be ending.     They cite Saudi Arabia’s disgust with Obama over Syria and Iran as the reason.     Add to this is the fact that Oman, a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council, may unpeg their currency to the U.S. dollar as well.
