Clothing Preparaton For SHTF!

Opinion

I want to talk to you about clothing when things get really bad.   No, I do not mean the latest trends.

First, let’s talk about shoes. You are going to need shoes that will require very little maintenance and will be able to last, not months, but years of harsh conditions.   This means those shoes you bought at the second-hand store are just not going to cut it.   My idea, and I am certainly open to constructive suggestions on this, are to get a good set of steel-tipped work boats and wear them in now.   Perhaps, a set of non-flashy cowboy boots, or military boots, could work very well.

Next, lets talk about your attire. Sorry, tuxedos and dresses will not due for this special occasion.   A good idea, on top of jeans and lots of t-shirts, I believe, is to have at least two pair of quality working coveralls that will last years.   Coveralls are versatile for staying warm when it is cold outside and vice-verse.   Try to get a size that will allow a little extra room for any additional clothing, if necessary.

You will need to have plenty of underwear unless you decide to use the 4 day rule for underwear.   You know, wear the underwear the first day, then wear it inside out on the second day, then for the third – exchange with a friend.   Thankfully, friends like these are hopefully few and far between.

Anyway you really do not want to be walking around with holy underwear, or holy socks for that matter; therefore, stock up on those. Also, do not forget thermal underwear, gloves, and socks to help keep you warm when things get really cold.

Now, lets address those Vacuum bags to store a large amount of clothing in a small space.   This is a great idea for those articles that are not fluffed up with air for insulation.   The vacuum will suck out that air and could easily render items, like sleeping bags and padded jackets, useless. Hopefully, you are addressing your wardrobe needs.

Finally, please prepare now for the escalating economic and social unrest.    Good Day!

Navy SEAL Lessons Learned From Aurora Colorado

The world is a dangerous place these days. Be prepared.   Alter your lifestyle, and it may save your life. Here are some ideas to help you; so that, you do not make yourself an easy target.

    1. Apply and train for a Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit. (Be very responsible with a gun!)
    2. Try to combat park (back into a space) to get yourself, and your loved ones, out of a situation easier.
    3. When eating out, eat with your back to the wall and be alert to a change in the atmosphere.
    4. In a gun situation, Take cover and not concealment.   Concealment hides, cover hides AND protects.   It’s the difference between hiding behind a movie seat or a concrete wall.

In short…   Do not be a potential victim and stay alert to your surroundings.

Precious Metals Storage Facilities: Bad Idea!

Opinion:

I have no problem during normal economic times of a private storage facility holding onto one’s physical precious metals, like gold and silver; however, it is increasingly becoming clear that we are not in normal economic times.  In fact, these are becoming increasingly more dangerous times.  To that end, I sadly have to believe having another party, no matter how responsible they may be, holding onto physical precious metals is no longer a good idea.

My reason for this opinion is not because these firms are not a safe haven to keep precious metals from theft, fire, or other unforeseen disasters, it is simply a question of what safeguards are there from some a secret federal court order, a law that was passed in the midnight hours, or a Presidential Executive Order that, in essence, orders the confiscation of physical precious metals?

The answer is sadly none – Other than some legal protest in court which will eventually be settled with a pretty piece of paper with some numbers on it… To be taxed of course.   Now, how about those firms that hold precious metals in other countries?   Has the term Nationalization not come to mind?  While the U.S. may have a structured court system, does one really believe that some executive in a foreign institution, in possession of that physical precious metals, is honestly going to say “No” when there is a machine gun pointed directly into his/her face?  Give me a break.

Also, if you have your precious metals, in the form of physically backed ETF’s, this can also present a significant danger, in that, government operatives will simply notify the institution to turn over the physical precious metals and you will, again, get a pretty piece of paper with some numbers on it…  To be taxed of course.

It is far easier, and more convenient, to confiscate precious metals when they are in a few strategic locations; as opposed to, many million of remote locations.

In short, if you prefer your Precious Metals to some pretty piece of paper with some numbers on it, do not put yourself in a compromised position of having a third party holding onto it.
