Jobless Claims

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits surged by 68,000 to a seasonally adjusted 368,000.    This is the largest weekly increase since November 2012.    So, apparently those Black Friday sales were even worse than expected since more people are being laid off going into the Christmas Season.   Those still receiving normal state benefits increased by 40,000 to 2.79 million.

Budget Fraud

Tea party groups and fiscal conservatives wasted no time attacking the latest budget deal.    It would have done the following…
1. Reduce deficit spending without raising taxes, but increased fees, which is another form of taxation.
2. Eliminates the automatic 65 billion dollars in deficit reduction measures by only reducing the deficit by 32 billion dollars.
3. Delay any government shutdown until after the 2014 elections.
4. Not address the long-term costs of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
No wonder Boehner and Pelosi support this crap!

Cops Per Capita

The top five countries with the largest number of cops per capita are Hong Kong, Portugal, Italy, Turkey and at number one with over 500 cops per 100,000 citizens is Russia.    It should be noted that Russia has the fourth highest reported crime rate followed by Italy.     So, simply having more cops per capita may not reduce crime.

It appears that 1.46 million, who signed up for Obamawreck, actually signed up for Medicaid.    If the trend continues, it could bankrupt both federal and state governments.   As an example, 30% of New York state’s expenditures were on Medicaid.   Just imagine increases being reflected in all 50 states.     Of course, a lot of money will be saved with massive use of death panels.

In some good news, Hawaii now has a new law that forbids GMO tech firms, like Monsanto, from further experimenting with GMO crops and seeds on the Big Island, and also forbids any new GMOs from being cultivated there.     It also requires commercial agricultural companies that use more than 5 pounds or 15 gallons of restricted use pesticides to disclose what chemicals they spray.    Way to go!

According to Egon von Greyerz, there will be a deflationary implosion.    In that scenario, the banking system will not survive, and all of the assets values which have been blown up by the credit bubbles will collapse.    The phase is starting now which is inflationary, leading to the hyper-inflationary phase.    He goes on to say that investors must watch the dollar because the fall of the dollar will be the trigger of all of these events.
