According to the AP, who examined 5600 data elements measuring transparency, the Obama administration has hit a record low in transparency.    Specifically, the number of times the government withheld, or censored, reports in 2012 was up 22% from 2011.   What is even more scary is that fact that the government has cited “national security” in legal cases and won without having to present evidence.

FAA Grounds Private Drones
http://minnesota.cbslocal.com

A Minnesota business, using drones for aerial photographic work on construction sites, had a booming business until the they received a call from the FAA ordering them to ground their drones because current regulations don’t allow unmanned aircraft for commercial purposes.   The government can fly drones, but American citizens cannot.  Sounds like tyranny; however, the good news is that the U.N. is trashing the U.S. governments use of drones in infringing on Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Future Capital Controls?
http://www.zerohedge.com

In the event of a US bankruptcy, or similar financial catastrophe, access to gold would almost certainly be limited. With mistrust between central banks growing, the next step would be to clamp down on gold exports.     What this means is that moving gold outside your country could be banned.    Thus, storing some gold, or silver, outside your own country may be critical at this point.

The Gold Standard
http://www.forbes.com

Listening to some Keynesian pundit, one would think that a gold standard would be hard to implement.    In fact, it would be quite simple. There would be some flaws; however, it would only be the result of corruption.    No government, or financial, system that we can make is totally perfect; however, it would be better than the one we have now.

The reality of what is going on with the dollar is slowly making its way into the mainstream with Bill O’Reilly essentially describing the U.S. government irresponsible fiscal policy as unsustainable.    He even went on to say that the current fiscal situation can only be blamed on the American people for ignoring the problem.     He, sadly, does not get the point that it really has been too late for the Dollar for quite some time.

The End of the University as We Know It

Europe’s Resolution: Ignore Unpaid Bills
http://www.zerohedge.com

With the entire European bond market now a central bank controlled policy mechanism, there are no longer any checks and balances.    To that end, there is no longer any need for Europe’s insolvent nations to pay their debts.    In short, anyone owning any government bonds in the EU can pretty much kiss that money good-bye.

Bowing before Central Bankers, India’s Finance Minister stated that demand for gold must be moderated.    He is going to make it more expensive to import gold.    Needless to say, this is not going to sit well with hundreds of millions of Indians who want gold and not paper.    I wonder what Indians are paying for rope nowadays?

Just like the last time when the US was in a crisis situation with the debt limit, the fiscal cliff is bound to force rating agencies to downgrade the US, once again.    Moody’s could to lower the rating to probably Aa1; however, in reality, it should be rated as junk at this point.    Of course, no one is really lending the US money anyway; thus, the credit rating argument is pretty much becoming moot.

Being Overweight Is Linked to Lower Risk of Mortality

According to new research this week in the Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers say that being overweight may lead to a longer life.    The possible reason is that obese people get better medical care because they are screened more regularly for chronic diseases.    Of course, Obama-care will reverse this trend fast and with enough time, everyone’s survival rate drops to zero.
